The Mars Retrograde Effect

When Mars is conjunct to your Sun and when it’s in direct opposition with it, there is an activation of energy at play. It is a time when you have the opportunity to sit back in the drivers seat and orchestrate your life to reclaim your power! Often it marks the start of something new. For example, you may get engaged, start a new business, leave a relationship or leave a job. This will translate to each of you in a different area of life depending where Mars is in your Birth Chart . Since Mars’ energy symbolise your personal will, you may refuse to compromise on your wants and desires. You won’t take No for an answer.

With Planet Mars also comes new sexual attraction that can lead to very exciting times in your intimate relationship. Mars is your most primal energy, your ability to fight for yourself or for others if need be. When Mars is in retrograde you need to take your life back into your own hands. You can’t just move forward as expected, you need to change something! You have to revise your strategies, go over something that you thought was done or get inspired to start over with a clean slate.

Mars turns retrograde on 31st October 2022 AEDT. Use this time to figure out what you really want. Make some serious decisions on how you would like to create your life and what’s important to you. At this time Mars is retrograding in the sign of Gemini, meaning that you want to communicate and understand what is currently happening and getting your head around the changes you wish to create and start acting on them. So how do you want to move forward with your life? What is your next goal?

Going back to your values, the foundation of what really matters and what is truly important to you is the starting point while Mars is retrograde in Gemini. Reconsider your choices and change things accordingly. During Mars retrograde the “wheel is turning” and you may question your current course of life. If you made a change in 2020 when Mars was retrograde in Aries, then this Mars retrograde you will test yourself whether that change was a good decision or if you need to make adjustments.

When Mars turns direct on 13 January 2023 AEDT, it can be a very important activation. It will release a lot of tension that was held back during this time. This energy can be volatile and Mars being in Gemini will be looking at alliances, who will stay with you and who won’t. Gemini needs movement, while Mars will want to preserve. Interesting times.
